Hi, I’m Karen! 🦉💜

Yes… Karen. 😂

I know, I know. The name tends to make people do a double take these days, but I promise I’m about as far from “being a Karen” as you can get.

About 15 years ago, I traded my tiny hometown of Mathews, Virginia, for sunny Florida—which is especially funny considering I hate the heat AND the beach. Apparently, I didn’t think that relocation through very well.

I’m a mom to two grown children, Gigi to two amazing little girls under four, and I’ve been married to my high school sweetheart for 27 years. When I’m not scooping, shopping for goodies, packing boxes, or dreaming up my next slightly crazy Scoop Dreams idea, I work full-time as a warranty coordinator for a national home builder in Orlando.

I’m also a Lupus Warrior, and I’m still learning how to navigate life around the good days and the not-so-good ones. Lupus actually played a pretty big role in the creation of Scoop Dreams. I wanted to build something I could eventually do from home, at my own pace, where a bad day could mean giving myself permission to rest instead of pushing through.

But there was another reason I needed Scoop Dreams.

I spend my workdays dealing with problems and, quite often, unhappy people. I realized I needed something in my life that was simply about HAPPINESS. I wanted to give some of it away—and maybe get a little of that positive energy back in return.

And that’s how this crazy little adventure began.

Scoop Dreams Was Born 💜

Scoop Dreams officially opened in June, and to say I was terrified would be an understatement.

I’m the person who happily hides behind the camera. In fact, when I started this adventure, I swore nobody would ever see me.

We’ll just say things haven’t exactly gone according to plan. 😂

Mystery scoops felt perfect for me because I LOVE surprises. There’s something about the anticipation of not knowing exactly what you’re going to get that makes the whole experience more exciting.

And that’s what Scoop Dreams is really about for me—the experience.

It’s waiting for your scoop video.

It’s wondering what’s going into your box.

It’s watching that package make its way to you.

It’s cracking the seal when it finally arrives.

And then it’s digging through all those goodies and discovering what’s inside.

That little burst of happiness is what I want to send out with every single box.

I try to learn a little about each person who orders so I can create something that feels like you. And when you come back for another order? That’s even better. My repeat customers have become the backbone of Scoop Dreams because with every order, I get to know you a little more.

One Thing You Should Know About Me…

Honesty and transparency are at the core of who I am.

Am I going to make mistakes?

Absolutely.

Will I occasionally forget something?

Ohhhh, you have no idea. 😂

Will something sometimes get missed while I’m putting an order together?

Yep. I’m human.

But here’s what I can promise you:

If I mess up, I’ll own it—and I’ll do my best to make it right.

My personality is a little difficult to explain because I can go from gangster to sweet grandma in approximately 2.3 seconds. What you see is pretty much what you get around here.

This Became So Much More Than a Business

One of the biggest surprises of this journey has been the people.

The mystery scoop community welcomed me with open arms. I’ve met other scoopers who have encouraged and supported me, and I’ve built relationships with customers and followers that I never expected when I nervously opened this little shop.

Reaching 3,000 followers was one of my proudest Scoop Dreams moments. I never imagined we would grow that quickly.

And while running Scoop Dreams alongside a full-time job, family, and taking care of myself is definitely a balancing act, it has given me more than I ever expected in return.

The truth is, Scoop Dreams isn’t driven by money. If it were, I probably picked the wrong hobby. 😂

It’s driven by joy.

I love wandering around looking for goodies. I love sitting in deep thought trying to come up with the next game, promotion, or ridiculous idea. I love putting together boxes and wondering what someone’s reaction will be when they open them.

But more than anything, I treasure the relationships I’ve made along the way.

A Little More About Me ✈️

Travel is another huge love of mine. I have about 15 states left to reach my goal of visiting all 50 states before I turn 50, and I’ve managed to sneak about nine countries into the adventure along the way.

So apparently, when I’m not working, scooping, being Gigi, shopping for Scoop Dreams, or trying to remember where I put something…

I’m probably planning my next trip. 😂

And We’re Just Getting Started…

I have BIG dreams for this little shop.

Eventually, I’d love to expand Scoop Dreams into shirts, personalized goodies, more handmade items, and plenty of other things floating around in my brain that I simply don’t have enough hours in the day to tackle yet.

For now, I’m taking it one scoop, one box, one crazy idea, and one new friendship at a time.
